About Us

It all began as a group of mums getting together to have coffee and a chat as their children played. Over time more mums came along and it became obvious there was a need to hire somewhere as the house on Holme Road was no longer big enough.

We relocated to the church hall, moving from the front hall to the back as lottery funding enabled the halls complex to be re-vamped.

We are now situated in the Breckles Hall at All Hallows Church Hall on Pierrepont Road.

We are a community based pre-school, with some members of staff living nearby, and were all once parents of children who attended.

We have close links with the local primary school, with more than 90% of our children moving on to Foundation there and continue to be an integral part of the local community contributing to events such as the Lady Bay Open Gardens.

Ofsted Report

We are proud of our pre-school and all of our achievements and improvements to date. In 2015 we had our Ofsted inspection. We were judged as a good pre-school (Grade 2). To read the full Ofsted Report, please click on the icon below:

In particular Lady Bay Pre-school was praised for the following:

  • Children’s behaviour is good and children listen well to the adults around them.
  • Children learn about healthy lifestyles and they follow good hygiene practices.
  • Lunchtime is a social occasion where children talk about their day and share stories of their home life. As a result, children are extremely sociable and confident.
  • The open space provided indoors allows children to develop their physical skills, as children enjoy dancing with flowing material to different styles of music.
  • The effectiveness of the leadership and management of the early years provision is good.
  • Staff are led by a positive manager and a supportive committee.
  • Systems for monitoring children’s progress are consistently maintained and are fully embedded in practice.

NB. In April 2016 we changed our status as an unincorporated charity to become a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO), and are currently waiting for Ofsted to provide us with a new certificate.
